Man held in death of 1-year-old left near train tracks

UKIAH, Calif. (AP) — A man who was babysitting two young children has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the 1-year-old was found dead near railroad tracks in Northern California. The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office says Edward “Two Feathers” Steele of Ukiah was taken into custody Thursday, a day after his girlfriends' 1-year-old and 2-year-old boys were reported missing. Authorities say Steele was caring for the boys at a motel but later left them unattended near some railroad tracks. On Wednesday afternoon, the 2-year-old was spotted by the tracks and was hospitalized for a possibly heat-related “life-threatening medical emergency.” The body of the 1-year-old boy was found about a half-hour later.
