July 7, 2019 - TIM, PHIL and DAVE say "That's all Folks!"

The Bigger Picture with Timothy Spangler - 7/8/2019 12:00:00 AM

TIM, PHIL and DAVE say "That's all Folks!" Friends and neighbors: It's been an AMAZING run for our little radio show these past 6 1/2 years. Over the course of 275 live shows, we have been able to put together a little corner of great conversation on the AM radio dial that made us all proud. But all thing come to an end - and this Sunday night (July 7) will be the last episode of THE BIGGER PICTURE on AM870 the Answer here in Los Angeles and syndicated nationally courtesy of Salem Radio Network. We started the show in the early months of 2013 with a simple goal in mind - to put on the air every week a healthy sampling of the stories and insights and ideas that we thought would appeal to you - because quite frankly they appealed to us! Great guests, great callers and a overarching sense of inquisitiveness if what drove THE BIGGER PICTURE forward for 275 episodes. Although it goes without saying, I will of course say it - I couldn't (and wouldn't) have been able to either get the show started or keep it going without the loyalty and dedication of my two co-hosts, Phil Sparks and Dave Fisher. Their commitment to the show (and to me!) over our run is something I will always treasure... So pick up a phone and help us celebrate the end of our journey on AM870 the Answer here in Los Angeles. Call us this Sunday night between 10pm and midnight Pacific during the final live broadcast of THE BIGGER PICTURE. Anything you'd like to talk about - as always! Our caller number is 866-870-5752 (or 866-870-KRLA). Thanks again for all of your support over the last 6 1/2 years!! Cheers Tim

JASON STUART ("Kindergarten Cop" and "The Birth of a Nation") Joining us on the show this week is our Special Guest - actor and comedian - Jason Stuart! Born in the Bronx and raised in Los Angeles, Jason Stuart was a self-described insecure Jewish kid who turned to theatre and performing to mask his emerging sexual identity - he jokes about going to see Barbra Streisand in "Funny Girl" as a youth and falling in love with Omar Sharif. His talent and determination got him some early professional work in films like "Kindergarten Cop," "Vegas Vacation," and TV shows like "Murder, She Wrote" and "The Drew Carey Show." But by the early-90s, frustrated by years of living in the closet, Stuart chose to come out publicly on an episode of Geraldo Rivera's talk show focused on "Unconventional Comedians." With nearly 150 credits however, it was acting alongside Armie Hammer and Jackie Earle Haley as one of the brutal plantation owners in Nate Parker's searing drama "The Birth of a Nation" that showed the world Stuart's formidable talent. Jason keeps evolving as a performer and as a human being hoping to make the world a better place.

Also joining us on the show this week is our Special Guest - pastor and author - Mark Biltz! Mark Biltz is the founder of El Shaddai Ministries in Washington State and the best-selling author of “Blood Moons – Decoding the Imminent Heavenly Signs” - revealing a link between charts of solar and lunar eclipses from NASA’s website with Israel’s history, the Biblical feast days, and signs in the heavens - drawing clear similarities between them, as they line up through history. Mark is a well-known and popular commentator on the Feasts of the Lord and has produced a series of DVDs on the Feasts that have gone around the world. His research and theories have earned him guest appearances on both radio and television as well as the cover of magazines. He shows how the Messianic prophecies fulfilled 2,000 years ago when Messiah came the first time, happened to the very day of the spring Feasts. He then explains how the second coming events will also happen to the very day of the Fall Feasts. Yeshua died for our sins on Passover, was buried on the Feast of Unleavened Bread, resurrected from death on First Fruits, and then sent the Holy Spirit to indwell believers on the Jewish Feast of Pentecost (Shavuot). If Messiah fulfilled the spring Feasts to the day of His first coming He will fulfill the Fall Feasts to the day of His second coming. Mark felt a real need to refocus on Hebrew Roots and to get back to an original understanding of the context and culture to have a correct understanding of the Bible. His wife, Vicki, bought him a book by a Jewish Rabbi named Moshe Braun called The Jewish Holy Days - Their Spiritual Significance. He saw such depth to the material and realized that Christians were missing so much by seeing themselves as cut off from the Jewish mindset and culture. He became a passionate student of literature written from a Jewish mindset and was humbled by the grace, wisdom and insight that poured forth. Mark realized the Jewish people loved the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and had been studying and mining the Tanakh for millennia looking for nuggets. So he started El Shaddai Ministries in 2001 to educate Christians from all different denominations on how anti-Semitism and replacement theology has crippled our understanding of God and the covenants He has made with His people – the Jews. Now Pastor Mark leads tours to Israel every year as well as leading the local congregation El Shaddai Ministries that he founded in 2001.
